Our Belief:

At Stepping Stones Learning Center, we believe that children flourish in a child-centered environment where they are respected and nurtured as individuals and are encouraged to grow in a secure, comfortable and happy community. In our center, we provide experiences that foster an excitement for learning, a respect for one another and an awareness of the world around us. We advocate the importance of ongoing communication and an open, cooperative partnership between home and center, so that children may grow to their maximum potential.

Infants & Toddlers Developmentally appropriate programs for infants & toddlers recognize their unique needs and special characteristics. They are not scaled-down versions of a preschool, but feel more like a family home setting. Our environment provides a safe, healthy place for exploration. Curriculum for infants and toddlers is everything that happens to them throughout the day, and every experience that is a component of good, nurturing care. Preschool Program In a comfortable, child-centered environment, through whole group, small group and individual play, children are encouraged to make choices and solve problems. Their creativity and imagination are fostered. The curriculum develops the whole child through interrelated activities such as: Language & communication, art, music, math, science, dramatic play, fitness, blocks, sensory, social studies, and field trips.

School Age Program We provide care before and after school - full or half days - for snow days or vacation breaks. Those children not attenting Big Rapids Public Schools will be responsible for arranging transportation. Quality Staff Our staff is certified in C.P.R and First Aid. We have a total of 160 yrs. experience in Early Childhood development. Our staff also has a total of 25 yrs. post secondary education in Early Childhood development. Other Services We have foster grandparents as volunteers. Meals We are a participant in the USDA food Program. We are proud to say that we serve home cooked meals!
