Meet the Staff

Doreen Fisher	Welcome to our website. I am very proud of the center's family atmosphere here at Stepping Stones. The staff and I strive to provide the highest quality care for our families. In June of 2006 we became the second center in the Big Rapids area to gain the NAEYC Accreditation. As the Director of 7 years, I have seen the enthusiasm and community develop over this time. I am a graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in Early Childhood Development and a CDA. In the past I ran my own childcare business, taught preschool and extended care and then moved to a Head Start program that I taught for 4 years. I am currently completing additional schooling online. Our center is unique, and above all a second home to many of our families. We provide enriching, fun, activities for the entire family! Tracy Roche	Our cook Tracy has operated a restaurant and worked in many restaurants in the Michigan area. She is a wonderful cook and loves being around the children. The center is part of the USDA Food Program and the menus reflect the requirements that all children must receive. The center always smells so good when Miss Tracy is cooking pancakes or our favorite hot lunches. Yum! CPR and First Aid certified.
Vicky Cerdena	Vicky has been with our center since October 2004. Before joining our center she worked in Head Start for many years. Vicky has an Associates Degree in Medical Records Technology from Ferris State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Sonto Thomas in the Philippines. Vicky enjoys working with children of all ages. She is also a religious educator for the local Catholic Parishes. CPR and First Aid Certified.
Mary Thiry	Mary has been here at the center teaching in our Toddler Room since the opening of the center in August of 2000. Mary has worked in the Early Childhood field for over 28 years. She loves the fact that everyone works to provide good, quality care and feels that the children at Stepping Stones are treated as #1 priority. Mary has a Bachelors Degree in Office Administration and Associates degrees in Business Communication and Records Management. She is currently completing her Toddler CDA. CPR and First Aid Certified.
Beverly McLaughlin	Beverly has been here at the center since October 2004. Beverly has been in the Early Childhood field for over 17 years. Before coming to Stepping Stones she worked in Head Start for 9 years. Beverly has her CDA and is completing her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development from Montcalm Community College through the TEACH Program. Beverly has 3 children and has been married for 19 years. CPR and First Aid Certified.
Meghan Thompson	Meghan has been with Stepping Stones since November of 2006. She is a graduate of Grand Rapids Community College with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. She also has over 5 years experience working in the early childhood field. She enjoys planning fun activities and adventures for the older children in the summer and advances the preschool children for the next step into school. Meghan is married and has 1 son. CPR and First Aid Certified.
Michelle Pierson	Michelle has been with the center since September of 2005. Michelle graduated from Baker College with a Daycare Assistant Certificate in June of 2005. She loves planning fun crafts and working with the school age children with their homework. During the summer, Miss Meghan and Michelle work hard to keep the children busy and having fun! Michelle is a mother of 2 grown boys and has been married to her husband for over 27 years. CPR and First Aid Certified.
